Lawrence “Thor” Thormaehlen

Lawrence “Thor” Thormaehlen was born and raised on the Texas Gulf Coast, where he spent most of his life fishing and in the outdoors. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and became an infantryman and was stationed at 29 Palms, California with 1st Battalion 7th Marines Alpha Company. After September 11th, 2001 Thor completed a Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to the Far East and was re-deployed to the Middle East as a part of the main invasion element in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon returning stateside Thor became an instructor in the USMC Security and Stabilization Operations (SASO) program for units returning overseas in support of the Global War on Terror. After military life he went to college and got an associate degree in science and biology, all while starting his career in the security field. A life issue forced him to get a job for a defense contractor where he found a home with Corporate Office Properties and Trust working on all their door and access control systems on a secure DoD site for 9 years.  Lockmasters offered Thor an instructor position in the fall of 2021 after he had completed several courses years prior.  He is currently overseeing our Professional Locksmithing I and II courses as well as assisting in development of future courses.
